About Us

Ensemble Loupan (EL)

  Means:  Group of Half-Masked Faces.

Loupan is a word created through research into the words; "Mask" and "Face."  Among the various words found were: LOUP ( an old French word for half-mask) and PAN ( old Greek slang for face ).

EL is a multi-disciplinary performance company and a promoter of a unique mix of Portland, OR based entertainers dedicated to delivering quality theatrical entertainment to fit any occasion. Whether developing original works or re-imagining existing ones, artists from many disciplines including drama, music, improvisation, dance, historic reenactment, circus arts, mask & puppetry will collaborate to bring you live performances and theatrical environments that are exciting and unexpected.

EL is a space where the diverse spectrum of performing artists can converge to share in and explore creative expression. This "Group of Half-masked Faces" consists of anyone who creates anything.

You are already included.

"We, that are viewed through the semi-transparent cover of whatever mask we don, are all players in this ensemble."

Let’s Play!!!
